You know the fullness of your voice is in there.
Have you ever opened your mouth to sing —
and pulled back at the last second?
Or got so shaky you started to not trust yourself?
You know there’s something deep and soulful wanting to come through.
You’ve felt it.
That moment alone in the car.
In the shower.
Alone in your room.
When the sound that comes out surprises you.
But somewhere between alone…
and being heard…
something changes.
You don’t just want to sing.
You want to sing fully.
You want to trust in your own voice in the moment. You want to walk into a jam, a song circle, a performance, or a room full of friends and let your voice shine without shrinking, apologizing, or holding back.
Maybe you’re self-taught and have pieced together technique from a dozen sources over the years that have still left you confused.
Maybe you’ve taken lessons before and you know that you can sing, but you feel you’ve plateaued in your progress: with your range, your tone, your breath control, or your ability to fully let go and be present.
Maybe you’ve loved singing your whole life, but have never fully developed your voice and are finally feeling the call to take it seriously.
I Spent Years Learning How to Sing Before I Sounded Like Myself.
I know this place because I’ve been there myself.
In college, after years of technical training in opera, musical theater, and contemporary music, I hit a humbling realization. My voice — one of my greatest joys and gifts — wasn’t sounding the way I wanted it to. It sounded trained, a bit too pretty, and like someone else’s. It took me years of work with a trusted mentor to unlearn those patterns and finally find a sound that was unmistakably mine, and that allowed me to sing the kind of soulful and inspiring songs that I truly wanted to sing.
In the 15+ years since then, I’ve taught multiple hundreds of students ages 7 to 75. Here’s what I’ve seen hold true again and again: technique is essential to improve your artistry after a certain point, but it’s only half the equation.
I’ve worked with highly trained singers who haven’t been able to access their heart and soul — and singers with little to no formal training who commanded every room they walked into. Technique gives you more autonomy over the instrument of your voice. Yet, trust, authenticity, and expression are what make it unforgettable.
I believe that our voice is deeply connected to our identity on the deepest level: our emotional state, our memory, our sense of creativity, and our trust. Voice has the capacity to reconnect us with our truest self — and for some, with something sacred, soulful, and deeply beyond words.
For many singers, vocal struggle is not just technical — it’s relational. It’s about creating safety in sharing our voice with others, allowing our authentic expression to shine through, embodying self-confidence, developing calm under pressure, and letting go of perfectionism. This is what allows us to fully inhabit our vessel of voice.
My work bridges contemporary vocal technique with artistry, embodiment, nervous-system awareness, and emotional honesty — helping voices cultivate expression that feel embodied, expressive, reliable, and fully their own.
“Jessica holds a powerful, welcoming space for you to expand the depths of your embodiment and voice. I’ve felt a growing confidence in bringing my voice through, and an ability to let go of the judgmental thoughts that used to keep it repressed.”
